Hardscape Design Ideas in Morrisville, VT; Patios, Walkways, Retaining Walls & More

When you are looking to improve the look and feel of your landscape there are several things you can do. The landscape plays an extreme role in the curb appeal of your home and when it is not in the best shape it can play poorly. Most people want to have a decent curb appeal when they have guests pull up to their house. A standard lawn with grass and maybe a tree is good but there are other aspects of landscape that are the best. One part of landscaping that is common to increase the quality of your yard is to add hardscaping. This is something that is added in addition to the plants, shrubs and other softscaping elements on your property.

Matt Myette Landscaping Explains What Hardscaping Is & What Hardscape Design Options You Have

What Are Examples of Hardscapes?: When you are talking about hardscaping it is part of your yard or property but is not a live plant of any kind. Often the item that is considered a hardscape is made from metal, wood, brick or stone. When you are working with stone, the term for the work is masonry and it is a fast growing and more common way to add texture and beauty to your landscape. If you are wondering what you can have made from hardscaping, the examples are plentiful.
Patios: There are homes that don’t have a patio when the home was originally built. If you have ever lived in a home that has a patio then you know how important they are. This is an area when the weather is nice that people love to spend time. You can use the space to spruce up your home and make it more functional. When you have a patio installed at your home that does not have one it will be made of a material that fits the hardscaping options. This might be a stone, concrete or wood plank patio. Whatever you choose you know it will add a beautiful look to your home.
Walkways: When you are walking from one area to the next whether it is from the door to the yard or the patio to a fire pit concrete is fairly standard. The problem is that concrete does not add the beauty and uniqueness that other hardscapes do. To add texture as well as fun to your hardscape it is better to remove the concrete walkways and use a flagstone or other stone. The stone ups the walkway from standard to elegant and high end. You can also use the stone as a secondary lining around and on each side of the walkway.
Retaining Walls: Another area that you can use hardscaping for is a retaining wall. The wall is used to keep the earth that is usually on a slope from sliding out of place. The retaining wall can be several feet tall and does not have to be an eyesore. The wall can be made from a stone or brick that can easily add value to your house and property.
